I Am, We Are’s 5th Annual Benefit Reception and Art Auction

Dear Fellow Hawks,

We invite you to join us on Saturday 5 December 2020 for I Am, We Are’s 5th Annual Benefit Reception and Art Auction, in partnership with the Embassy of South Africa, Washington, DC. “I Am Here” is the theme of this year’s virtual celebration – a statement of our collective resilience, perseverance and fortitude.

All we have endured this year has been especially traumatic for the young people we serve – the youth of Africa and her diaspora. The Covid-19 pandemic with its forced isolation, family stress, disrupted education, and fears about the future, has had a disproportionate impact on the mental health and wellbeing of our youth.

Yet this year has also shown us the beauty of resistance and the power of hope. We are fiercely determined to create a new tomorrow for our youth. IAWA is launching a new leadership development program enabling high-school youth in our flagship program in South Africa to convene monthly with youth in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

With your support, IAWA can continue to build the capacity of today’s youth to become tomorrow’s leaders in any environment. Join us to celebrate all that is, and all that can be!
