Introducing Anthony (Tony) Goins, Vice President/Senior Client Director – USAA. I am pleased to announce that Tony Goins will be joining the North American FSI Strategic Clients Group as the Vice President/Strategic Client Director leading the team at USAA. Tony joined Oracle in 2006 and had held various roles prior to serving as the SCD for the US Air Force over the past six years, where he focused on maintaining relationships between senior Air Force, Combatant Command CIOs/Program Managers and the Oracle Government and Education team .
Prior to joining industry, he served for 27 years in the United States Air Force, where he began his Air Force career in 1979 as a Missile Launch Officer at Whiteman AFB. He served several tours in the Pentagon, first as the Congressional Issues Branch Chief preparing military leaders for congressional testimony and responding to questions from Congress.
Next, in the first of three tours working for the Chairman of the Joint Staff, he served as the Nuclear Weapons Council assistant to the Vice Chairman of the Joint Staff and Executive Assistant within the Directorate of Plans and Policy. After graduating from Armed Forces Staff College, he returned to the Joint Staff and was selected to command Cape Canaveral Air Station supporting NASA and military space operations. In this role he was responsible for the base’s IT infrastructure
Following this tour of duty, he commanded the 3rd Space Launch Squadron where Tony processed military and scientific payloads for Space Shuttle missions. Additionally, as an Air Force Launch Director, he was responsible for processing and launch of satellites on Titan IV and Atlas boosters from the Eastern Range. Following his assignment in Florida, Tony returned to the Pentagon as the program manager for the Combating Terrorism Readiness Fund and Acting Director, Combating Terrorism Directorate (J34). While in this role he also served as a Director within National Military Command Center advising the White House, SECDEF, senior military leaders and commanders worldwide on current military operations.
His last tour of duty before retiring in 2006 was as a Colonel and Director, National Systems, at the National Reconnaissance Office. Tony has a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, M.B.A. from the University of Missouri and is a member of AFCEA.He resides with his wife Debra in Tampa Bay, Florida, and has three children, Janel, Robert, and Nicholas. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family, coaching youth sports and working in the community.
