UMES KINDFORGE Team earned second place in the Bernstein Business Plan Competition at Salisbury University

Dear VP Vickers,

 

I wanted to share the exciting news that the UMES KINDFORGE Team earned second place in the Bernstein Business Plan Competition at Salisbury University on May 7, 2026.

The team was coached by Dr. Bryant Mitchell, Associate Professor in the Department of Business, Management & Accounting (DBMA); Mr. Zachary Solembrino, a UMES 2025 Finance graduate; and Mr. Bill Anderson, a former UMES DBMA adjunct professor. This achievement reflects outstanding collaboration, mentorship, and commitment to student success.

 

The all-female student team, Ms. Hasanatou Barry (Finance), Ms. La Tavia Brower (Marketing), and Ms. Somuadina Egbulam (Computer Science with a Business focus) was awarded $10,000 ($5,000 in cash and $5,000 in professional services). This award is a meaningful testament to the quality of their work and the strength of the UMES program.
